Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT) is one of the 100 best engineering colleges of India, established in the year 1963 under the aegis of Sri Siddaganga Education Society®. SIT offers 14 undergraduate, 9 post-graduate and 15 research programmes in different disciplines leading to B.Tech., M.Tech., and doctoral degrees of various departments and centres. SIT is well connected by air, rail and road. The Tumakuru railway station is within 3 km from the Institute. The institute is spread across 50 acres of lush green campus with many green initiatives like rainwater harvesting, and waste treatment technology demonstrating the sincere effort towards creating a sustainable infrastructure for better tomorrow.

civil engineering department

The department was established in the year 1963 with a UG programme in civil engineering. Presently, the department offers master's degree programme in Transportation and Structural Engineering as well as doctoral programme. In addition to academic activities, the department is involved in research, consultancy and technical services to industry and society. The department has adopted outcome-based education and the UG programme secured 6 years of accreditation by NBA in its first cycle. The department is recognized as one of  the best civil engineering departments in the state of Karnataka. Further, consultancy and R&D activities in collaboration with industry as well as with institutes of national importance, have benefited and promoted inclusive all-round development of the stakeholders in the region.

school of architecture

The School of Architecture came into existence as the 12th under-graduate course in the sprawling S.I.T. Campus during the year 1992 . School of Architecture holds the reputation as one of the pioneer institutes in architecture education in the state that focuses on excellence in teaching, research, consultancy and design innovation. The curriculum is updated to meet the industry requirements which involves Design studios, building materials and construction lab, Parametric design, architectural conservation, architecture journalism and many more elective topics introduced for the students. Students are encouraged regularly to participate in National and International design competitions and have won many awards and accolades for the school. The school holds an alumni association called 'SAA' that constantly supports the school for internships, placements, conducting workshops etc.
